I yawned, wincing. I was incredibly sore, but the memories of why kept me from falling into a bad mood. I rolled over to find Sasha’s bare back. I ran my eyes over her smooth skin, memorizing each freckle until the blankets around her waist cut off the view.

I scooted closer, pressing against her and laying a hand on her hip. She grabbed my hand and weaved our fingers together.

I pressed a kiss against her shoulder. “Morning.”

She leaned back with a grin. “We went a little overboard last night. You should go back to sleep.”

I buried my face in the crook of her neck. “Maybe.”

Sasha rolled over, her eyes widening at the clock. “Shit! I need to get ready for work.” She jumped out of bed, snatching strewn clothing off the floor. I watched her walk to the bathroom naked. She left the door open as she showered, a silent invitation to join her. I tried to get up, but my body was now void of pain killers and pissed off from our night of physical activity.

Sasha came out a few moments later, still naked. I pouted as she dressed since I couldn’t touch her. She leaned over, kissed me on the cheek and pushed away my grabby hands. “I’ll call you when I get to work. I’ll try to come over for lunch.” Her seductive smirk made my entire body blush.

“Please be careful.” I caught her hand.

She crawled across the bed to give me a lingering kiss. “I promise you.” She stood, slipping her holster on, another somber reminder of what she was walking into every day she went to work.

Before Sasha left, she sat on the edge of the bed. “Call if you need anything. If I don’t make lunch, I'll be here for dinner.” She took a breath and whispered. “I love you.”

Grinning like an idiot, I whispered back. “I love you, too, Detective Garnier.”

Sasha laughed, rolled her eyes, gave me one more kiss and ran down the stairs.

Rolling over to her side, I ran a hand over where she’d just been. The bed was still warm, and the soft scent of her shampoo was everywhere. I soon fell back asleep with a grin on my face.
